Centenary Community Connections & Centenary Rocks! Festival
Centenary Community Connections (CCC) is a non-profit community group, established in 2000 to support all members of the Centenary Suburbs community. CCC aims to increase discussion and interaction between community members, generating necessary support and connectedness at the grassroots level. CCC also runs the Centenary Rocks! Festival, an award-winning event attracting over 20,000 people annually.

Problem Discovery
As the Principal Designer for CCC and the Centenary Rocks! Festival, my task was to develop the visual identity, design marketing collateral, and all visual materials, including branding, web design, social media marketing collateral, posters, event guides, maps, and event signage. My work needed to foster community engagement, strengthen the community’s resilience, and comply with local and state government regulations.
Problem Definition
The challenge was to create a visually appealing and cohesive design system that would promote community engagement, encourage event participation, and strengthen the community’s resilience.
Solution Discovery
To develop the visual identity for CCC and the Centenary Rocks! Festival, I conducted user research and generated personas to better understand the community’s needs and desires. This research informed my design decisions, ensuring that the branding and marketing materials were inclusive and appealing to a wide range of people.
I designed the branding for CCC and the Centenary Rocks! Festival with colours that reflected the key colours of the schools that serviced the area, creating a strong visual link. This helped to build a sense of community identity and foster engagement.
Additionally, I built a user-friendly website for CCC and the Centenary Rocks! Festival, featuring clear navigation, detailed information on the services and events offered, and an easy-to-use booking system for the Community Hub.
Solution Validation
Throughout the design process, I worked closely with the CCC committee, volunteers, and vendors to ensure a cohesive and visually appealing experience for visitors. My work also complied with council and government guidelines, ensuring that the event met local and state regulations.
Release, Results & Uplift
My work as the Principal Designer for CCC and the Centenary Rocks! Festival contributed to the event’s success, attracting over 20,000 visitors annually. The user-friendly website and consistent branding across marketing materials and event signage fostered community engagement, strengthened community resilience, and created an enduring characteristic of life in the Centenary Suburbs.
Through my design expertise and understanding of the community’s needs, I helped to enhance the Centenary Rocks! Festival experience and support the ongoing mission of CCC to generate support and connectedness within the community.
